About The Book

Waiting For Monday

It is a truth universally acknowledged that a woman in possession of four brain tumours must be in want of a funeral director.

With all the honesty, heartache, and hilarity of Melodramatic, Waiting for Monday is the prequel in Megan Parkinson’s debut series that allows us to witness the makings of Mel.

When Mel hears of her mum’s terminal prognosis, it doesn’t take her long to leave her life in London behind to be by Theresa’s side.

As Theresa’s huge presence begins to shrink – slowly at first, and then all at once – Mel and her dad face an entirely new reality, handling things the only way they know how — by making each other laugh.

Hard-hitting with sprinkles of lighthearted humour, Waiting for Monday is about the light that’s found in periods of complete darkness.

It’s about the chance encounters that can alter life’s path, and the people whose footprints overlap our own as we move through each character-defining chapter.

About the author

Megan Parkinson

Megan Parkinson is an English actor best known for her performances as Alys Karstark in Game of Thrones, and Sam Murgatroyd in Ackley Bridge. Growing up in West Yorkshire, surrounded by her mad, loving family, Megan eventually moved to London, aged 18, to pursue her dream of being an actor.

In September 2020 Megan’s mother, Fiona was diagnosed with stage four breast cancer. Megan was thankfully able to be with her mother when she eventually passed away, at home, in November 2020.

Three years after her mother’s passing, now a mother herself, Megan was inspired to pick up her diaries from her time living in London, and her mother’s end-of-life care, and use them as the foundations for Melodramatic and her upcoming novel, Waiting for Monday.
