Welcome to the Inaugural Behear Indie Audio Awards
The awards are open to the whole of the audio industry not just those with big production budgets and connections to broadcast corporations. We are here to celebrate the diversity, talent and dedication of those of us who love the industry. The awards celebrate the Indie contribution to this amazing sector, wherever you are or whatever it is you do.
Just as a reminder. The awards are open for entries now and will close Midnight on the 30th of September. Judging will take place during October and November. All Nominees and Winners will be contacted in December and awards will be announced by the 1st of January.
Each category will have a Bronze, Silver and Gold award along with a short list of nominees.
The best Audio Script winner will have the opportunity to work with the team of judges to create a full Audio Drama as a prize.
All Audio entries must have been created in the 18 months up to the final entry date and must be in English

Every shortlisted, nominated and winning entry will get a certificate. With the winners receiving a Trophy.
Best Audio Script Winner
The best Audio script winner will receive the chance to create a fully produced dramatised audio version of their entry created by the team at Behear and the sponsors, fully funded by the awards team, approx. value: £10,000.

Best Female Voiceover (VO)
Price: £9.99
We are looking for a female voice actor/artist that shows depth and breadth of expression either as a character or in the narration of a story. The judges will be looking for voices that captivate, hold and transport the listener.
Best Male Voiceover (VO)
Price: £9.99
We are looking for a male voice actor/artist that shows depth and breadth of expression either as a character or in the narration of a story. The judges will be looking for voices that captivate, hold and transport the listener.
Best Ensemble Cast
Price: £19.99
This category recognises strong team performances. Entries should demonstrate how the voice actors worked together to bring depth, rhythm and cohesion to the production. Scenes with multiple voices are encouraged.
Best Audio Drama Overall
Price: £29.99
This award celebrates excellence in audio drama. Judges will be looking for originality, sound quality, production values, and how well the piece engages and moves the listener. Entries can be full episodes or excerpts up to 15 minutes long.
Best Dramatised Audiobook
Price: £29.99
This category is for audiobooks that use multiple voice actors or dramatised delivery to tell the story. Judges will be looking for performance quality, clarity, and how well the production brings the story to life as a listening experience.
Best Audio for SFX and Music
Price: £29.99
This category recognises excellence in the use of sound design, music and effects to shape the story or listening experience. Judges will consider creativity, clarity, balance and how the audio elevates the final production.
Best Audio Company
Price: £29.99
This award recognises established audio companies who consistently deliver high-quality work. Judges will be looking for a clear identity, a strong track record of production, and standout achievements in audio since June 2024.
Best Startup Audio Company / Individual
Price: £1.00
This category is open to individuals or companies who began working in audio after June 2023. We want to see emerging voices, fresh thinking, and bold work. Tell us how you started and what you’ve achieved so far.
Best Audio Script
Price: £29.99
This category rewards exceptional writing for audio. The script can be from an audio drama, podcast, or audiobook and should show clarity, pace, originality and how well it works when heard. Judges will assess it as a written document.
Best Podcast for Audio Dramas
Price: £29.99
This category is for podcasts that showcase audio drama content – either full dramas or podcast episodes with audio drama segments. Judges will assess quality, originality, consistency, and audience experience.
